what does cm radio show?

I’m not sure if this is your problem, but it took me 48 hours of trying before I was able to get connected. After about 12 hours, I was able to get a very low-signal connection. But then, suddenly, after 48 hours, I was able to connect perfectly and quickly and that has persisted ever since.

I was unable to get a data connection until the 48 hours had passed (note that this is roughly 48 hours, not exactly).

This was on AT&T in the United States (Minnesota), so you may be encountering something like that. This problem occurred with both the Sierra Wireless card and a (new) Hologram card I had.

@fgodfrey that’s interesting. Did you find the problem happen randomly beyond the first registration?

@jlgonzalez please double check that your SIM has been properly activated. I dont see that it has been activated from AV side

No - after first registration, I have had no issues at all. My first connection (the one after about 12 hours) was to a Verizon cell at very low signal strength. The 2nd connection was to AT&T at full strength. My assumption was that AT&T just took a long time to register the SIM since it was a roaming connection.

Hi, I ran into a limit on replies in the forum and was blocked for 5 hours! I followed the instructions to register my mangOH Red in AirVantage. However, the steps in the Getting Started guide do not match the screens presented in AV. I was only able to enter my systems Serial Number and IMEI.

what url did you use?

I asked my Sierra Distributor a while back for a Sierra Wireless for an LTE CAT M1 sim card. Do you have these available? For my WP 8548 that came with the mangOH red I was just using the Sierra SIM card that came with it, which I guess is just GPRS. I am also using an HL7748 (which won’t work with the Sierra sim card that came with 8548), and got a Neo CATM1 sim card, but I am not allowed to send SMS to non NEO sim card devices. Supposed to have one coming from ATT, but they have been super slow.

@jlgonzalez
Did you use the url in the Getting Started Guide:
https://eu.airvantage.net/accounts/signup?type=Mangoh.

?

Yes, and this is what I am presented with;

I believe you are using an older account. Please create a new account with the link in the Getting Started

I have some progress, but not there yet…

I still get this after a while:
root@swi-mdm9x28:~# cm radio
Power: ON
Current Network Operato 311 480
Current RAT: LTE network (LE_MRC_RAT_LTE)
Status: Registration was denied, usually because of invalid access credentials (LE_MRC_REG_DENIED)
Signal: Strong signal strength (4)
PS: Packet Switched Not registered (LE_MRC_REG_NONE)

can you try using 2G first and then use LTE-m1?

Go to 2G doesn’t work at all.
root@swi-mdm9x28:~# cm radio
Power: ON
Current Network Operato
Current RAT: Not available
Status: Not registered and not currently searching for new operator (LE_MRC_REG_NONE)
Signal: No signal strength (0)
PS: Packet Switched Not registered (LE_MRC_REG_NONE)

did you setup your APN? I have done this process multiple times with multiple SIMs and carriers. Usually I just have to use a "cm data apn internet.sierrawireless.com " (or whatever the APN is for that carrier) ANd then do “cm data connect”. In some of your output messages you have 0 signal strength, so make sure that is not 0 too…looks like your LTE mode has good strength.

You could also try popping in a SIM card of another carrier if you have it. I took the SIM card from my personal ATT phone (it is a nano sim, so I had to make sure if lined up correctly to put inside the micro SIM slot) and it worked fine with the “phone” APN. Connected to air vantage fine and could see all the output from the sensors.

try the following:

cm radio rat GSM

Here is the result…
root@swi-mdm9x28:~# cm radio
Power: ON
Current Network Operato 310 260
Current RAT: GSM network (LE_MRC_RAT_GSM)
Status: Not registered but currently searching for a new operator (LE_MRC_REG_SEARCHING)
Signal: Weak signal strength (2)
PS: Packet Switched Not registered (LE_MRC_REG_NONE)

root@swi-mdm9x28:~# cm radio
Power: ON
Current Network Operato 310 260
Current RAT: GSM network (LE_MRC_RAT_GSM)
Status: Registration was denied, usually because of invalid access credentials (LE_MRC_REG_DENIED)
Signal: Weak signal strength (2)
PS: Packet Switched Not registered (LE_MRC_REG_NONE)

were you able connect finally?

No, it still says registration was denied.
