WP7504 firmware upgrade swiflash hangs, bricks

Hi,

I was trying to update the firmware, but swiflash took forever, it just keep printing “.” for over an hour.

swiflash -m “WP750X” -i ~/Downloads/WPx5xx_Release14_GENERIC_SPK.spk
Detecting USB of the target
DONE
Communicating with the target
DONE
Downloading the firmware
…

After aborting this, the system did recover, so I attempted to put the board into bootloader mode, by pulling TP1 low during boot. After this, the board never recovered, the USB interface does not come up anymore. Looks like its bricked.

Is there any possibility to recover this?

I’m assuming that your WP75 is installed in a mangOH Green. If so, try this:

  1. Power off the unit
  2. Put DIP switch 7 in the on position
  3. Power on the unit
  4. Run swiflash (as you did previously)
  5. Put DIP switch 7 in the off position

Maybe this is what you tried already, but I just wanted to make sure that the steps are clear.
