Relationship between "AT!mapuart a,b" and the "uartMode set x y" commands?

Do they do the same thing? If so, how do I know which ‘a’ relates to which ‘y’?

For instance, is “AT!mapuart 17,1” equivalent to “uartMode 1 app”?
