Ethernet IoT card disables after long periods or power cycle, How to keep it enabled when power is applied

I have an ethernet IoT card in my mangoh red. Every time I cycle power or go extended periods without using the board (power still applied) the board defaults back to its original state and eth0 is no longer available. How can I get the mangoh red to acknowledge there is an ethernet card attached and it is automatically enabled. I believe this should be done in the startup file the processor references, but not sure???
