Access WP7702 from external processor via serial interface?

I want to send and receive data from WP7702 via a serial interface from an external processor. Without to have to do any changes in the Legato code. I want to use the WP7702 as a radio module only and configure it with help of AT commands.

Is that possible or do I have to do changes in the Legato code, even when using the WP7702 without the mangOH red?

Thats ok to use.
Just set the UART into AT mode.
You can use the at mode even after you go past the mangoh stage

That raises more questions:
Were can I read more about setting the UART-mode?
Do I have to set the UART-mode after each time the WP7702 is powered off?
