# Make yellow error

I think @jyijyi was on the right track when they suggested you clear OCTAVE\_ROOT.

OCTAVE\_ROOT is an environment variable. You can unset an environment variable on the command line for a single command like this:

```auto
unset OCTAVE_ROOT

```

But, if this is being set by leaf, the variable will probably come back into existence when you change directory or exit and restart the leaf shell. There are ways to use `leaf`'s `env` command to control those. See `leaf help env` for more information on that.

However, if you want to use Octave, you’ll need to install the Octave apps. Unsetting OCTAVE\_ROOT or setting OCTAVE=0 will cause your build to exclude the Octave apps from your built image.
